I love the heartbreaking performance by Lillian Constantin, and the directing by Germaine du Lac in this short masterpiece of early feminist cinema, and wanted to provide a piano score to go with it.

Joan Arc

I’m a huge fan of George Melies and also of Joan of Arc.  And I’m blown away by this early historical and religious epic full of pageantry, action, and drama, lovingly and painstakingly hand-colored frame by frame!  I had to provide some music for it.

This piece is about the gates of Kiev, a city which belongs to Ukraine.  This is dedicated to the heroism of the Ukrainian people.
